Country Director’s Editorial for October 2026
30 September 2026|JRS Serbia
Since 1914, the Church has observed the World Day of Migrants and Refugees on the last Sunday of September. Each year, this occasion invites us to reflect on the struggles and hopes of vulnerable people on the move, while raising public awareness of their challenges. It also reminds us that migration has been part of human history since ancient times, and that empathy and solidarity—rooted in our Christian faith—must remain central to a global moral response in today’s rapidly changing world.
The work of JRS carries special significance in this context. Our mission is not only to welcome migrants and refugees but to support them in becoming active participants in their communities. Through education, workshops, language learning, conversation sessions, and opportunities for social interaction, we help them strengthen their resilience, build connections, share experiences, and overcome isolation.
We invite you to learn more about our activities and impact in this Newsletter.
Thank you for your attention.
